October 16: Free Author Talk and Book Signing
“Growing Up in a Frank Lloyd Wright House” Author Talk and Book Signing. Kim Bixler’s family owned Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie-style 1908 Edward E. Boynton House in Rochester, New York, from 1977 to 1994. Through stories and images, Bixler tells about the thrills and challenges of living in and owning a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home. Ms. Bixler shares personal tales of what it meant to live in a home that was in the public eye while dealing with leaks in the roof, renovation projects and a family’s unique joys of daily life in an architectural jewel. This special presentation and book signing begins at 6:30pm on October 16th in the Taliesin West Pavilion. Copies of “Growing Up in a Frank LLoyd Wright House” will be available to purchase for $24.95 at the event by credit card only. October 18-19: DESIGN + HISTORY: The AIA Taliesin Colloquium
DESIGN + HISTORY: The AIA Taliesin Colloquium. The National American Institute of Architects (AIA) will launch a new event at Taliesin West on October 18th and 19th. DESIGN + HISTORY: The AIA Taliesin Colloquium is hosted by The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and sponsored by the National AIA’s Historic Resources Committee. This exciting new symposium of ideas and discussions will focus on preservation and restoration practices related to historic architecture and promises to bring together leaders in architectural history and design for a two-day conference at one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most legendary building creations. October 26: Adult Photography Class
Fall Photography Course at Taliesin West for Adults. Professional photographer Andrew Pielage will guide participants through this weekend class on Saturday, October 26th from 12-6pm. Master basic photography skills, learn how to manipulate composition and light, and practice advanced manual settings such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Students learn art critiquing skills as they discuss others’ work and edit their own photographs. Participants must provide their own fully manual camera and USB cord.
