The Eastern Municipal Water District will begin offering free tours allowing people to view many of the 120 species of birds in the wetlands of San Jacinto. The water district will collaborate with the Audubon Society to offer the tours on the first Saturday of each month beginning Nov. 7 and continuing through May. Reservations are not required.
The tours begin at 8 a.m. at the San Jacinto Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility, 770 N. Sanderson Ave., San Jacinto.
The water district’s wetlands are used to further treat recycled water produced by the reclamation facility before it is distributed for irrigation to nearby farms and the San Jacinto wildlife area. The area is generally not open to the public. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Call 951-928-3777, Ext. 4226 for details.
