Water Street: River of Dreams

If you travel the Metro Gold Line in Los Angeles, we encourage you to step off at the Lincoln/Cypress Station sometime to see the art installation called “Water Street: River of Dreams” a 2003 bronze work by Los Angeles sculptor Cheri Gaulkees.
The Los Angeles River in this area was once the home to the Tongva Indians. “Water Street: River of Dreams” features a Tongva woman drawing water from an imaginary river and pouring it into a tightly woven bronze basket.
“Water Street: River of Dreams” discovers the connection between the Los Angeles River and the Tongva.
